Personal Information
Bio | I grew up in Michigan, Texas… joined military and spent 4 years in special operations with US Army Rangers… afterwards served a 2 year mission for my church, or more aptly – I served 2 years because of the beliefs and spiritual understanding cultivated in the faith that was grown and nourished in my church community. At age 27 started college, got married.. 33 years so far. Six children, 2 still at home. I think my kids would say that my most favorite thing is being a Dad, and saying YES! I’ve written a few books (don’t be too impressed, they are mostly pictures:) Managed to provide for my home team through the medium of “adult education” in many forms but primarily as a speaker and cultural consultant, with 100% of that work coming through word of mouth referrals. I’m excited about the next 5 years of my life as I have committed to doing some very different things going forward than I have never attempted in the past. I have 2 books I need to complete before June of 2024. “Terrible News and The Pleasant Peasant ” and “Pigs on Parade”. |
Skills | SKILLS “You can learn more about a person in an hour of play, than in a year of conversation.” ~ Plato I’m a huge fan of Experiential Education – Activities that Teach I enjoy Woodworking (I like to make a late 18th century game called “Hide the Cow”). Pickleball – what’s not to like about pickleball? 🙂 Scavenger Hunt Design ( we have a 9 year old and this is his favorite thing, (after Mr. Beast)… so it’s my favorite thing too. I to help things grow= plants, self, teams, and others. I like creating unique and interesting learning scenarios that engage hands, hearts and heads in order to maximize learning, retention and potential. For example… I recently facilitated a group of 200 people in building individual rockets, and launching those rockets multiple times (average height of 200 ft per launch) which cumulatively measured reached over 37 miles…or too the upper atmosphere. I, nor this group had ever done anything like this… which I share to illustrate something else that I like and am trying to become better at… “trying new things”. I’m pretty good at reading… ( a mentor told me this) “The person who can read, but chooses not too, isn’t much better off than the person who can’t read at all.” So I try to read, because I can. I like the book “Enders Game” and have read it over 20 times…. Recent great reads include “Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir” — “The Name of the Wind” by Patrick Rothfuss Many many books could follow. I like Ted Lasso – Napoleon Dynamite, Groundhog Day, and Balboa – not just as great films, but awesome for teaching leadership and life lessons. |
